Rattlers Fight to the Finish in 9-10 Loss Against Vandegrift

October 15, 2024

In a hard-fought battle that came down to the wire, the Rattlers showed incredible grit in their 9-10 loss against the Vandegrift team. As always, we were neck and neck, proving once again that our team is one to watch. This season may have ended, but we walk away with our heads held high, knowing we left everything on the court.

From the first serve to the final point, every match was a true fight, and the entire team delivered an extraordinary effort. Special shoutouts go to our top-line players for their standout performances and to the whole team for their unwavering support.

Italia Valencia and Diego Alvarez, both 4-year lettermen, capped off their remarkable high school careers with standout performances. Italia secured two pivotal victories—dominating in mixed doubles with José Beltran (Senior) and clinching an impressive win in her singles match. Diego Alvarez (senior), in his final season, went out with a bang, delivering two strong wins in both singles and doubles. What a fitting way for these two seniors to end their team season, leaving behind a legacy of dedication and strength.

Evan Wang (Junior), playing at singles line 3, demonstrated remarkable resilience by taking the first set to a tiebreaker and securing the win under intense pressure. On the girls’ side, Sabrina Scanlon (Junior), battling at singles line 1, pushed her opponent to a thrilling second-set tiebreaker. In boys’ doubles, line 1 duo Pablo Alvarez (Sophomore) and Nate Washington (Sophomore) fought fiercely through a grueling third-set tiebreaker, narrowly missing victory with an 8-10 loss. Girls’ doubles line 3, featuring Angela Huang (Junior) and Melania Serenko (junior), also showed exceptional tenacity, taking their match to a super tiebreaker before falling just short in an intense finish.

These performances highlight the Rattlers’ relentless spirit and determination. Each player gave it their all, proving this team is a force to be reckoned with. Though the match didn’t end in our favor, it’s clear we have a strong foundation for future success. Each year, we grow closer and stronger, and we’re confident that even bigger achievements lie ahead.

A special thank you to all the parents for their constant support and dedication throughout the season. Your encouragement from the sidelines and updates kept us all connected. And to our incredible coaches, thank you for giving the team the confidence and support throughout the team season. Your guidance has made all the difference.

Thank you, Rattlers, for your hard work and determination! We’re incredibly proud of everything you’ve accomplished this season—Go, Rattlers!
