Grit is what defines the Rattlers’ Volleyball Team

September 12, 2024

Tuesday night, our Reagan Varsity Volleyball team showed they are a team full of grit & determination and ended their pre-season with a nail-biter against Canyon. Down 14-4 in the 4th set, the Rattlers fought back, after a marathon rally, to win the set. They rallied to win the 5th set, 16-14, and took the match. This win took a team effort and a desire not to let Canyon get the win…again. Do not mess with this team, especially in their den.  Their pre-season schedule, filled with three tournaments, and a challenging schedule prepared the ladies for the upcoming district season. They finished 7th in the John Turner Classic with Mya Allen (Sr) earning All-Tournament Team. Next was the Fraulein Volleyfest where they finished 6th , with both Mya Allen (Sr) and Lauren Garcia (So) earning All-Tournament Team. The final tournament, at Volleypalooza, did not go how they hoped, but they learned, grew as a team
and start district play 19-11. With district season just starting on Friday, it has already been a season of highlights worth celebrating:

-AVCA Phenom Watchlist Seniors – Mya Allen (Sr)

-AVCA Phenom Watchlist Freshman-Juniors

– Shayne Zammiello (Jr), Lauren Garcia (So) and Kennedy Crider (So)

-Mya Allen – 1000 Career Digs and 2000 Career Kills

-Lauren Garcia – 1000 Career Assists

Rattler Volleyball season is just starting and it’s going to be a season to watch! District play starts Friday at Roosevelt High School. The next home game, in the Rattler Den, is Tuesday, 9/17, against Madison. Come early and stay late! You’ll want to see the grit this team always brings to the court!
