The Reagan Rattlers accumulated double digits in hits and RBIs against the Marshall Rams, with 12 hits and 13 RBIs. Caden Crofts had a stellar night at the plate, going 3 for 3, with 3 hits and 3 RBIs. The speed demon also had 4 stolen bases. All the seniors in the lineup got on base, including Stone Johnson who scored Chase Portillos with a line drive to center field.
The Rams got a double dose of Caleb/Kaleb. Caleb Crider took command and started on the mound for Reagan. He struck out 5, walked 2, allowed 2 runs, and gave up 7 hits in his 4 innings pitched. Crider also contributed to the win with 2 hits, including a killer bunt, and 1 RBI. Kaleb Rogers came in for relief in the bottom of the 5th and, with 10 pitches, induced the Rams to go 3 up 3 down, striking out 2, walking 0, and allowing 0 hits or runs.
The Rattlers’ defense was flawless. With bases loaded and 2 outs for the Rams, Matthew Butler slammed the door on the Rams when he made a spectacular diving catch in left field in the bottom of the 3rd.
The Rattlers play in the Kerrville Tivy Baseball Classic on Thursday, 3/7 against Laredo Alexander at Schreiner University at 12 pm, and against Houston Episcopal at Tivy HS at 5 pm. They play Corpus Christi Calallen at the North East Sports Park on Friday 3/8 at 7:30 pm following their district game with Lee at 4:30 pm. Their last game of the tournament is on Saturday, 3/9 against Kerrville Tivy at 2:30 pm at Tivy HS.
