October 15, 2023

Reagan High School faced a tough challenge in the Area playoffs, ultimately falling to Vandegrift High School with a score of 2-10. The Rattlers, however, displayed their competitive spirit with some tenacious performances.

Notable victories for Reagan came in for mixed doubles; Nathan Washington and Italia Valencia showed their resilience, securing a hard-fought win with a final score of 3-6, 6-2, 10-4. Ernesto González Molina and Evan Wang also clinched a victory in boys #3 doubles with a score of 6-4, 6-7 (7-2), 10-4.

Several of the matches proved to be incredibly close, with nail-biting tiebreakers keeping spectators on the edge of their seats. Yet, despite the fierce competition, Vandegrift gained the upper hand, ultimately securing victory by winning the next 8 matches and leading to Reagan’s 10-2 loss.

While this marks the end of Reagan’s team season, it’s important to acknowledge the outstanding leadership of Coach David Daniel and Coach Matthew Garner. Under their guidance, the team achieved its 11th consecutive district championship, maintaining an impressive undefeated district season.

Looking ahead, Reagan’s individual season is set to resume in the spring, offering more opportunities for the Rattlers to showcase their talent and determination. Additionally, the annual student/parent mixer is scheduled for Sunday, October 29th, providing a chance for parents to pull out the Icy Hot, come together, and celebrate their love for the sport.
