Last weekend, Rattler Tennis hit the road to Plano, TX, for a pre-season warm-up against three solid teams.
In the first match against defending State Team Tennis Champion Plano West, Kathy He/Sarah Stevens won a close match in girls’ doubles, and Amaya Yovanovich won in girls’ singles. The other matches were hard-fought against tough opponents.
The Rattlers battled in their second match but fell just short of Frisco Centennial. The winners were Paulina Razo-Zapata/Livia Washington and Marcella Perry/Sarah Stevens in girls’ doubles; Jose Beltran/Angela Pozos in mixed doubles; Gavin Fonger in boys’ singles; and Kathy He and Italia Valencia in girls’ singles.
On the second and final day of competition, the Rattlers rallied and won four lines against Coppell High School: Angela Pozos/Jairo Kirk in mixed; Italia Valencia/Ellie Hale in girls’ doubles; and Anish Sehgal and Jose Beltran in boys’ singles.
After two days of competing in the sweltering heat against extremely good opponents, the Rattlers are ready to begin their season on Tuesday, August 16 at the Blossom Tennis Center.
