CONGRATULATIONS KYLE!!
Kyle Totorica went on to win the his final match as a Reagan Rattler Senior to be crowned the UIL 6A Tennis State Champion in Boys Singles.
Kyle fought off El Paso Coronado’s Ian Uraga in what was Kyle’s third attempt at the state title. He went on to win the match 7-5, 6-4 in straight sets.
Kyle had to focus and draw on his experience after going 2-5 down in the first set. He found his inner resolve and won 5 games in a row to clinch the first set 7-5.
The second set started is similar fashion after the momentum from the first, and Kyle went up to an early 3-0 lead. However, Uraga found another gear and began forcing the errors on Kyle and they exchanged breaks to end up level at 4-4 with Uraga to serve. Kyle then settled in and eliminated the unforced errors and broke his opponents serve to go up 5-4 and serve out the match. Kyle did not disappoint and clinched the match on his second match point to win the title.
Congratulations Kyle on a thrilling tournament to win the State Title in your senior year. We wish him the very best on his next adventure playing for Xavier University!
What an amazing run the Reagan Rattlers have had this year, and it has culminated in the first State Tennis Title in Boys Singles for the Rattler Head Tennis Coach Daniel and Assistant Coach Sierra. Thank you both for all you do for the Rattlers Varsity and JV Tennis Teams and congratulations on a phenomenal season. Looking forward to many many more years of success.
