Reagan Wrestlers put in a strong showing in a home Tri-meet over the past two days against the talented Clemens and Roosevelt Teams.
On Thursday JV opened it up with SIX first place finishers in the round robin brackets in their weight pools: Senior Ryan Harwood (138#); Juniors Kaleb De La Garza (132#), Alex Almaguer (170#), Parker Miller (195#) and Maleak McGlasson-Brunson (195#); and Freshman Austin Mireless (185#).
On Friday Varsity Girls won both of their duals, bringing their overall season record to 3-2. They beat Clemens 24-6 and Roosevelt 21-12 with Seniors Victoria Rodriguez (110#), Addison Garcia (102#) and Lauren Beach (119#) and Freshman America Rodriguez (110#) all going 1-0 and pinning their opponents for 6 points each. Sophomore Ella Gransberry (128#) scored 3 points with her 7-3 decision win, and Sophomore Paris Gonzalez (165#) went 2-0, pinning both of her opponents for 12 points on the day.
Varsity Boys split the duals, soundly defeating Clemens 46-21, and losing a heartbreaker to Roosevelt 35-36. Senior Zarek Hernandez (120#) went 2-0 scoring 11 team points with a pin and a tech fall, and Sophomores Jimmy Benne (132#) and Alex Sierra (126#) scored 12 points each with their two pins.
The Rattlers will be back at it next week at Madison High School where they will face Madison, Steel and Churchill. JV wrestles March 19th and Varsity March 20th – times TBA.
