February 6, 2019

February 6, 2019 – Senior midfielder Michael Morell has committed to play soccer for the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) Seahawks beginning in the fall of 2019.  Michael is joining a competitive D1 program where the Seahawks are coming off two back to back NCAA Tournament appearances.

The senior co-captain has enjoyed a stellar playing career at Reagan.   Accolades include being listed on Top Drawer Soccer’s 2019 winter All American watch list, being named to the 2018 United Soccer Coaches winter All Region team, Texas Association of Soccer Coaches All State 2nd team, District 26-6A All District 1st team and the UIL 6A All-Tournament team.  In addition to his accomplishments in soccer, Michael is a two-year letterman in cross country and a member of the National Honor Society.

UNCW’s head soccer coach, Aidan Heaney, says this about Michael on the UNCW press release: “Michael really caught our eye when he attended our camp this summer. He is skillful, tidy on the ball and has a great engine to get around the pitch. I believe he can add to our team in either a central or right-sided role and see this as just the start of him furthering his development. He is a key player and leader on his club side, Classics Elite from San Antonio, Texas, and feel he is an excellent addition to our program and University.

Congratulations to Michael! We look forward to following his career at @UNCWMenssoccer and wish him continued success!
