Rattler varsity wrestling competed in the Russ Pedersen Invitational at Johnson High School on Saturday.  It was the toughest competition of the season so far. and in a field of 28 teams an injury riddled boys team was able to secure a Top 10 finish. Jr Max Pechman(113) and Srs Leo Bisesi(215) and Noah Hislop(190) battled from the consolation bracket but fell just short of  the placing matches.  In the 120 weight class Sr Ben Taylor secured 3rd place in a dominating fashion winning by pin.  Jr Grant Schneiders placed 4th in the 144 weight class.

On the girls side in a first for a tournament there were more girls teams fielded than boys with 31 teams.   The varsity girls were also able to secure a Top 10 finish due to points being scored in almost every weight classs. In the 107 weight class, So Shobhana Spielmann secured 2nd place after pinning her first 3 opponents. In the 165 weight class So Mekyela Garcia also secured 2nd place and she also arrived at the championship match pinning her first 3 opponents.

The teams will travel to College Station to compete in the Doc Hess Invitational on Saturday Dec 16.  Strike ’em.
