Rachel Freeman joins Reagan in 2020 as Head Cross Country and Assistant Track and Field coach.

Prior to joining Reagan, Coach Freeman was assistant cross country and track coach and a Special Education teacher at Stevens High School in NISD. While at Stevens, the girls cross country team and individual boys were regional qualifiers both years.

Before Stevens, Coach Freeman spent 4 years as Assistant Coordinator at Eisenhower Middle School in NEISD.  While there, she coached basketball and track, taught PE and served as the Department Chair for PE and Health.  She also led numerous athletes to the Meet of Champs.

She began her teaching and coaching career in 2006 as an assistant coach at Gregory-Portland High School.  While there, the girls won 7 consecutive 28 4A District Championships in cross country and track and field and the 2010 Region 4 track and field team title. During her tenure at Gregory-Portland, she coached multiple individual regional and state qualifiers in both cross country and track and field.

Coach Freeman graduated from Rockport-Fulton High School where she was a 3 sport varsity letterman and a 3 time State qualifier in cross country and track. After high school, she attended Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi where she served as team captain for the Islander women’s cross country and track teams while earning her B.S. in Kinesiology. While earning her M.S. in Secondary Education, she coached a 3x NCAA D1 National Champion in the 5000 and 10,000 meters.

Coach Freeman loves coaching because of the kids and the passion she has for the sport. She shared, there is no other feeling quite like helping young athletes develop character traits such as persistence, determination, dedication, resiliency, discipline, work ethic, heart, selflessness, leadership and love for yourself and a team – not just in competition but in life.

Coach Freeman is married to Greg and they have a son, Dash. Her and her family love the outdoors and creating family memories. They took a 20 day, 7500 mile, cross country road trip visiting 13 states, 2 countries and tent camped in Yellowstone National Park.

Jamey Howard

Head Athletic Trainer

Coach Howard joined the Reagan Athletic staff in 2003 and is currently our Head Athletic Trainer for all sports. Prior to Reagan, Coach Howard spent 8 years in the field at Fredericksburg and Clemens High Schools.

Coach Howard graduated from Angelo State University with a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology.  He is also a Certified Athletic Trainer and a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.

He attended San Angelo Central High School where he excelled in Basketball and Track.

Coach Howard is married to Lexy and they have two children, Hadlee and Hilton.

Joe Martinez

Coach Martinez joined Reagan in 2015 as an Athletic Trainer and also teaches Sports Medicine. Prior to Reagan, he was the Athletic Trainer for the football team and women’s golf at the University of Colorado.

Martinez earned his Bachelor of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Texas and a Master of Science in Sports Administration from the University of New Mexico. He also is a Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC), Licensed Athletic Trainer (LAT), and Certified Teacher in Physical Education.

He graduated from San Diego High School where he played both Football and Basketball.

Coach Martinez is married to Savannah and they have one child, Austin Marie.
