Hays shuts down Hays, 6-1

 So P Austin Hays (2-0) threw a complete game 1-hitter for a 6-1 win over the Hays Consolidated Rebels Friday night at Steele in a game pitting two teams that were 3-0 in pool play of the Judson Tournament.  The win put Your Rattlers in the 1pm Championship game on Saturday at Steele.

 Reagan got all of the runs they needed in the top of the first. Jr 3B Josh Garza (who finished 3 for 4) started the game by slapping a single to RF.  Sr CF Jordan Mengele bunted Garza to 2^nd, and Hays reached on a SS error to put runners at the corners.  Sr 2B Logan Nottebrook drilled a double to the deep CF, plating Garza and moving pinch runner Keith Casey to 3^rd.  Sr C Alex Kendall scored Casey on an RBI groundout, and Jr DH Cody Moon singled up the middle to score Nottebrook. 3-0 Rattlers.

 Reagan tallied again in the 2^nd.  Jr LF Diego Flores singled to CF with 1 out and stole 2^nd.  Mengele brought him home with a hustling 2 out triple to LCF. 4-0 Rattlers.

 Reagan tacked on a pair of insurance runs in the top of the 7^th.  Hays and Nottebrook led off with walks on full counts, and Kendall followed with his third hit of the night, his second bunt single… which loaded the bases. Moon singled to LF to plate the pinch runner, Casey, and Sr 1B Brad Hall lifted a sacrifice fly to CF to score Nottebrook.  6-0 Rattlers.

 Austin Hays (and solid Reagan defense) kept the Hays Rebels from advancing a runner past 2^nd base until the bottom of the 7^th… with a lead off walk, a sacrifice bunt (??), a ground-out to move the runner to 3^rd, and a wild pitch to score their only run… before a groundout to So SS Trevor Knight to end the game.  Jr RF Nick Dovalis had a very good game defensively.
